Fighting to Be Noticed

I have decided to direct and produce shorts films to construct a safe platform to share the narratives of six Black College women attending Rutgers University, New Brunswick campus. I chose to explore and analyze the gendered racial microaggressions affecting women of the African Diaspora on Rutgers University New Brunswick campus by presenting my findings through an artist visual of cinematography. The goal of my short series is to educate others about the realm of higher education the gendered racial microaggressions that are the hidden barriers that are impeding the success of the Black college women and to encourage difficult dialogue to inspire change.

About the filmmaker
My name is Ayana Jihad I am currently a senior at Rutgers University majoring in Sociology with a concentration in race and gender theory, with a minor in Digital Communication, Information, and Media and Women and Gender Studies.Through my feminist leadership, I strive to educate others of an invisible prolonged racial and gender oppression affecting women of color. I hope advancing one's education to inspire others will shift their discourse to encourage progression and social change.
